
Hot Sandwich with Dried Figs & Peanut Butter

Figs and peanut butter make a surprisingly perfect match. :)

Ingredients (Serves 1)
- 2 slices of country-style bread (e.g., pain de campagne)
- Butter (as needed)
- 50 ml hot water
- 1 tbsp brown sugar (or cane sugar)
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 50 g dried figs
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- A pinch of cardamom
Instructions
1.Make the fig syrup:
Combine the hot water, brown sugar, lemon juice, and cardamom. Add the dried figs and let them soak for 1–2 hours. Once softened, drain them on paper towels.
2.Prep the bread:
Spread butter on both sides of each bread slice.
3.Add peanut butter:
Spread peanut butter on the inside of one slice.
4.Add figs:
Arrange the soaked figs on top of the peanut butter.
5.Assemble and cook:
Place the second slice of bread on top to make a sandwich. Grill using a sandwich press or grill pan until the surface is golden and crispy.
